select all type of seedling

OK I figured it out while writing this.

double-click, left click the unit type, left click and drag the mouse out from the asteroid.

Cool.

don't mind me

Yep.

I found selecting strong seeds kind of useless, but I often use high energy groups and, especially, high speed groups.

I wonder if there might be better ways of doing this though, for me I often want to select my weakest seedlings to send them to build trees and keep my strong seedlings around for defense. However I dont really get an option to easily select the weakest as the double click menu only seems to categorise seedlings to a certain type if they are above some threshold.

What if instead we got a skill triangle where each corner represented one of Strength, Energy and Speed. Then you could click in the triangle or select an area within it somehow to select seedlings. Clicking in the centre would select the seedlings that are weak in all 3 aspects and clicking a corner would select the seedlings strong in that particular aspect.

Yes a filter for weak seedlings would be very useful. That and one for super seedlings but I think that's been mentioned already.

One possible solution to splitting rationally similar groups

You can sometimes split seedlings based on their Speed attribute to further isolate differences in spite of similar attribute ratios.

Let us say two groups of Seedlings (group A and B) orbit the same Asteroid and all Seedlings of both groups have higher Energy than other attributes.  The double click Index shows the sum of both groups as Energy seedlings.  This Index does not discern differences in quantity of a particular stat amid Seedlings, only the one attribute which is highest.  Group A Energy may be much higher than group B, but since the highest attribute is highest across both groups, that is enough logic to build the Index.  You may want to split the group due to great differences in quantity of this Energy attribute and use the weaker to plant and save the more Energetic seedlings for combat.

  • If the Speed attribute differs between the two groups you can send the whole lot to another Asteroid and catch the first group to arrive and send them elsewhere.  You have now separated the fast from the slow, but may have also separated the more and less Energetic or more and less Strong.  The Index will still show high Energy, but at least you know which ones to plant or which ones to send out early to ensure they all reach their destination at the same time.

I found myself organizing Seedlings in this way and maintaining a paranoid level of caution to prevent mixing what may be inseparable using the above method outside of sacrifice.  I also found this may be the most elaborate description to a simple trick I have ever written.

I understand perfectly what you mean, it's something i do myself. It can get time-consuming though
