Crashing, Dark Matter, bought through Steam
« on: October 24, 2009, 06:28:33 PM »
Hi,

Just bought the game through Steam, all installed, beautiful game.  I finished the main story, and started on the Dark scenarios when I encountered some problems...

1) When getting to the Dark Matter level select, I only have levels 3 & 4 available.  Where is 1 & 2?

2) When taking the final asteroid on level 4, the moment I click to make a tree (Dyson or Defense) all the seedlings freeze, it 'dings' at me, and the game stops.  I can scroll, select asteroids, even select flowers (although I can't do anything with them).  Any ideas on how I can get the level to finish so I can unlock other Dark Matter levels.

I've unin/reinstalled (via Steam, so how clean a new install is, I don't know) and still get the same.

Any ideas folks?

1: Not a bug, the first two levels are purely tutorial so they don't make sense in dark  matter mode.

2: Very strange... can I suggest you unlock the whole mode with the unlock features menu option, at least you can keep playing that way.

I had similar thing:
Quote from: Vanger date=1255795807
After defeating last enemy on level 4 dark matter (but not colonizing all planets), game suddenly froze.
I could not select asteroids, seedlings didn't move, count of seedlings I sent a moment prior the freeze was blinking.

I could move mouse pointer. I clicked on Menu, it worked. I selected Resume and game unfroze.
Maybe it's clash between normal mode win scenario and darkness mode?

I could not recreate it though I played the hell out of this level.

Fairy Nuff.

Have done, and all other scenarios are available.  I'll drop another post in if it occurs again on other levels.  Meanwhile, if I play level 4 in normal mode and close my eyes, I can pretend it's the dark matter level!

Cheers folks!

Just a quick update -

It's occured again on level 14 of dark matter.  I took the central asteroid (ie: the final one), and as per level 4, it 'dinged' and all the seedlings stopped in thier tracks.  I could scoll around the map, click on asteroids to see thier info, but all seedlings were again stuck.

I get no error messages, I am wondering if this has affected other Steam users, in case it's something in thier code that is distributed as the game is intergrated into the Steam 'package'.

Hi,
I've installed eufloria via my steam account, and I've experienced a game crash on level 14 in normal mode, when attacking the last asteroid. Back to windows; nothing to do. I replay the level later.

If it 'dinged' then my hunch is that there must be an error box from the OS (and not from the game) and probably that error box must be backside of the game window. Cannot be sure of it, but it might be, who knows.

Hint: Press ALT+TAB to switch to desktop/apps/window. Found anything?

I am having the same problem, Darkmatter level 4.  I downloaded from Impulse, am running on a new ASUS N61Jq notebook, i7 processor, windows-7 64 bit and a mobility radeon hd 5730 graphics card.  Have replayed the level 4 times, twice conquering everything and twice leaving a couple asteroids empty.  On attacking the last asteroid the computer "dings" and freezes.  I can minimize the window and everything else is working and there are no error windows.  Am looking into whether there is an updated graphics driver, should know soon.  The game is version 2.02 and my graphics driver version is 8.680.0.0 .  I also tried the automatic driver update in windows control panel and got the message my driver is up to date.

Can you try applying the latest patch and seeing if that fixes the issue? I have done some stuff with the pause code in DMM and it might be related to your problem...

Almost, on conquering the last asteroid the same thing happens, it dings and just stops.  After waiting a couple of minutes I hit menu, resume and the seedlings started moving again.  Then the continuation window came up.  I had tried this before and although the seedlings started moving again no continuation window popped up in v2.02.  It seems playable but if you don't know to hit menu and resume you would still be stuck.  Have no idea why this works.
