Not sure how to check the framerate

Funny story.
I was optimising my new level, and needed to check the framerate, and ran into the same problem - there doesn't seem to be a framerate indicator built into the game.
So I just coded one.  :P
Shame it will never see the light of day - it was for testing purposes only and has since been removed from the level.

Fraps?

EDIT: Ctrl-D, F12. Look in the top left-hand corner.

EDIT 2: Also, what on earth is the second layer of F12ness? It gives me a headache.
