I don't think this is supposed to happen... :) An old bug, but I should note that it is definitely still here.

Nope, definitely not.  I regularly get a bunch of enhanced seedlings and an asteroid with plenty of speed and strength but not a whole lot of energy.  Lots of starting seedlings make it much easier due to the difficulty in taking an established asteroid.
