Is there an upgrade path from Eufloria to Eufloria HD? Will the Steam version turn into the HD version at least? What about those of use that have a non-Steam version?

Or, will the HD version have to be purchased separately? And if so, is there at least a discount for current Eufloria owners? And if not, why should we purchase anything from you guys ever again? I mean, I have *other* games on Steam from over a decade ago, and they still work fine. And Eufloria has known bugs that are not being (and according to you, will never be) addressed.

It's a concern if a company will not stand by their products. I hope that is not the case here.

Now, this part is just plain confusing. Isn't the Humble Bundle version the HD version? Are you saying that it's just a beta? It doesn't say beta anywhere on that site as far as I can see...

For who already bought Eufloria, check this out http://www.dyson-game.com/smf/index.php?topic=1627.0

The HIB version is Eufloria HD and yes, it's beta as the file download as _BETA1

I think that's been answered by the link. Anyone who contacts us who wants the updates can have one for free :) RANT COMING! However, and this is purely my personal opinion, I would like to think our fans would be supportive of both us and other indies who go through all manner of, well, 'hell', to make these games.

We're not out there driving expensive cars, we aren't out on the golf course, we've been up until 5am, we've had to put family and children and personal lives on hold, we've had to deal with more than anyone should have to for our work. And that's our choice! In Eufloria's case, we're still updating a niche game 4 years later.

So, I would really like to think that people will purchase the bundle, even if you only pay 1 cent or give all the money to charity!

The issue you're referring to is a bug in a 4 year old game on an OS which didn't exist to be fair, and it's not a problem we have lots of requests about although it is clearly an issue somewhere. Few games get updated to fix bugs that come up much after release. For better or worse, Eufloria has always had its fair share of bugs which is partly why it's now on a new and fresh code base. Eufloria HD is a complete rewrite in a different language.

The original Eufloria code base is still entirely with co-creator Alex May and it's completely his call as to whether to update his old code. He's moved on to other projects now but I will mention it to him next time we speak. Edit to add - the problem could be in some of the libraries used. Those libraries may not have been updated, or Eufloria may not work with the new libraries. I'm not saying that's the case, just saying it's non trivial.

If you read the pdf that comes with the PC, Mac and Linux install, you'll see it does say more in there. Perhaps it could have been known as a beta release but that's not how the bundle works. The bundle is an Android bundle, it just happens that we all agreed for users to get these other platforms too.

Having said that, it's only beta in that it's new on the platforms and that we plan on adding more features before we do a full commercial release. The code base is solid having been developed and tested heavily already.

I hope this all makes sense. We've been doing ridiculous things to get this to happen so apologies if my reply comes across a little tetchy.

Edit: This link?

sillytuna:
The forum has just moved, that's why the link is broken ;)

More info on the updated faq though.

I did speak to AlexM and there are no plans to update the old code base for new operating systems etc.

All development is on Eufloria HD. If you want a pre-release copy then the easiest way it to buy the Humble Bundle, for which you can pay just 1 cent if you wish.

(and yes, that link)
