(MOD NOTE: This was initially about a problem with the Steam version but the thread is about an existing issue in Eufloria HD)
I have a copy of Eufloria PC with Steam, another one for iPad and enjoy it occasionally also on my iPhone.
Recently I have installed Windows 8 and I have had problems with some games on Steam, but generally I have been resolved by deleting the game and reinstalling it.
But Eufloria not resolved. Since I've reinstalled works extremely slow including menus, you can see how they paint the menus on the screen, I could see when I select an option first lights and after a time interval it's drawn down and then it goes, for example, to the options menu.
I tried to play full screen, I changed the compatibility options: to XP and Vista, without result.
Any help?
Thanks in advance

Hi, unfortunately I don't have any solution for you for windows 8, but if anyone else here has managed to get it to work please say how. This is the first post we've had on the topic.
In the mean time, eufloria hd is the version in development and hopefully that works on windows 8. It's in pre-release only until Thursday as part of the humble bundle and then will be in further development for a few months. You can purchase it for as little as 1 cent if you wish. Should you not wish to buy the bundle even at that price, pm me.

Hi,
Thx for your reply. I will purchase the humble bundle and try it. I will tell you if work in W8

I'm wondering if this is something odd about your system. Can you send me a PM.

I purchased the Android Humble Bundle and just dl'ed the 420mb installer. The install goes off without a hitch, but when I launch the game, all I get is a black window for a second that says SDL_app and then it crashes back to desktop.
I tried deleting the Eufloria Folder in My Documents but that had no effect.
Is there a log I can submit or something?
Running Win7 Enterprise x64

I have the same issue under Windows 7. Did you ever get it resolved?
-
I hasn't heard back.
Can you make sure you install directx from the link I mentioned and that you have up to date graphics drivers. What video card do you have/system specs?
-
Oops - I'll have to find the dx link and edit it in later. It's almost certainly a video driver issue.
-
I updated to the latest GeForce drivers last night. My card is a GeForce 9800GTX+
I can try and install the latest DirectX again if that might help?
I also updated to .NET 4.5
edit: Just ran DXDIAG, I am running DirectX 11

Hi
Also, I am running Directx 11. And I have the lastest driver for my video card, which is ATI Radeon HD 4800

There seem to be a couple of machines where SDL is refusing to initialise correctly.
Other than ensuring you have the latest video drivers and DirectX, we don't have a fix for this at the moment. We may need to send some test versions out.
-
Thanks guys. We'll look into this.

We had another report, including the screenshot below. Is this the same large window others have seen?

I'm having the same problem (I'm the person who sent the screenshot). Here is my DxDiag output:

IanSan, although not definitely the cause, your graphics card is very old if I've read correctly. There is a very good chance it doesn't support the features SDL requires to even start up. Usually we get missing or incorrectly elements on the old cards, however.

May I suggest getting and installing more RAM? You only have 1 GB installed and it looks like it's using about 1.6GB.

i had the same problem... i got win 8 pro x64. the chipset (grafic) was the problem. its a bit tricky because in my case intel did not (and still doesnt! :-X) offer any chipsetdriver for my device under windows 8...
while searching for a solution i stumbled upon this site: http://tachisalopex.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/windows-8-and-intel-graphics-driver.html (http://tachisalopex.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/windows-8-and-intel-graphics-driver.html). I installed the SIGNED drivers and now its not slowly anymore. :)

I just wanted to pop in here and say that the same thing is happening to me on Windows 7 32bit. I bought the humble bundle mainly for this game because my wife wanted it. But it's not working on her laptop, just brings up a blank screen before closing. I've worked on some gaming stuff before so I know how difficult it is, but if there is any command line arguments I can pass or logs let me know and I'll send the info I get.

Hi!
I have experienced the same problem as the original poster: I got the game via the humble bundle, and for a while it worked perfectly with windows 7 (64 bit); but when I recently installed windows 8, the game became extremely slow, even after re-installing it from steam.
I have an ATI Radeon HD 3800 series video card, and after I downloaded a new driver, the problem got solved: now the game runs with a normal speed again!
Here's the link to the driver installer that I used: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/catalystlegacywin8.aspx (http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/catalystlegacywin8.aspx)
I'm not sure if it's any help, but here's my DxDiag too, before updating: http://pastebin.com/kqnmustC (http://pastebin.com/kqnmustC) and after updating: http://pastebin.com/CSL8kLkj (http://pastebin.com/CSL8kLkj)
Cheers!

So far this is sounding like driver issues - not much we can do from here at the moment but when we get back on Eufloria HD we'll contact some of you to see what issues remain.
Thanks all.
