IanSan, although not definitely the cause, your graphics card is very old if I've read correctly. There is a very good chance it doesn't support the features SDL requires to even start up. Usually we get missing or incorrectly elements on the old cards, however.

May I suggest getting and installing more RAM? You only have 1 GB installed and it looks like it's using about 1.6GB.

I have a copy of Eufloria PC with Steam, another one for iPad and enjoy it occasionally also on my iPhone.

Recently I have installed Windows 8 and I have had problems with some games on Steam, but generally I have been resolved by deleting the game and reinstalling it.

But Eufloria not resolved. Since I've reinstalled works extremely slow including menus, you can see how they paint the menus on the screen, I could see when I select an option first lights and after a time interval it's drawn down and then it goes, for example, to the options menu.

I tried to play full screen, I changed the compatibility options: to XP and Vista, without result.
Any help?

Thanks in advance
Raul

i had the same problem... i got win 8 pro x64. the chipset (grafic) was the problem. its a bit tricky because in my case intel did not (and still doesnt!  :-X) offer any chipsetdriver for my device under windows 8...
while searching for a solution i stumbled upon this site: http://tachisalopex.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/windows-8-and-intel-graphics-driver.html. I installed the SIGNED drivers and now its not slowly anymore. :)

I just wanted to pop in here and say that the same thing is happening to me on Windows 7 32bit. I bought the humble bundle mainly for this game because my wife wanted it. But it's not working on her laptop, just brings up a blank screen before closing. I've worked on some gaming stuff before so I know how difficult it is, but if there is any command line arguments I can pass or logs let me know and I'll send the info I get.

Hi!

I have experienced the same problem as the original poster: I got the game via the humble bundle, and for a while it worked perfectly with windows 7 (64 bit); but when I recently installed windows 8, the game became extremely slow, even after re-installing it from steam.

I have an ATI Radeon HD 3800 series video card, and after I downloaded a new driver, the problem got solved: now the game runs with a normal speed again!

Here's the link to the driver installer that I used: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/catalystlegacywin8.aspx

I'm not sure if it's any help, but here's my DxDiag too, before updating: http://pastebin.com/kqnmustC    and after updating: http://pastebin.com/CSL8kLkj

Cheers!
