31.1 hours later...
« on: October 26, 2009, 03:56:35 PM »
Finished the last level last night... My Steam time indicates 31.1 hours. 56 missions... Well, here are my impressions.

A long time ago, when this game used to be called Dyson, I made a thread to give my impressions and suggestions.

- Black background: Added. Thank you very much for an ENTIRE mode dedicated to the void-esque black background. Now I don't hallucinate Dyson sphere with trees and flies when I close my eyes. Tree/Flies color glow adds more ambience.

- Rally points: Not added, BUT you guys solved the problem with The Sphere of Influence's "Fast Travel". Awesome stuff.

- Tree Indicator: Added. Planets look awesome from far away with this. My mouse wheel will live a little longer thanks to that.

- Destroy and replace tree: Not Added. Meh, that was mostly a zealous request on my part. Forget this one. Why destroy your own seedlings? GIVE ME MORE AND MORE.

- Defense Tree Upgrade: Added. Laser mines goes here. Wow... just wow. I seem to have "guessed" it, like seeing in teh future.

- More Level: Added. More levels? It went from 5 to 56. Speechless.

-------

OK... In this first post I made, I wanted to say something about the gameplay but I backpedaled to give it more thoughs once I'd get the full version. Well, here it is.

This game's main objective is the first objective of your life.

Yes, seedlings hurrying to strike the core of a Dyson Sphere just like spermatozoons all rushing to get to the ovum. You were all seedlings once.

Like Christopher Columbus who sailed the sea on a single seedl... ship and found America and said "I'll make a tre... colony over here!".

Like Humans on Earth, making spaceships and trying to get to other planets...

This is the most relaxing and thought-provoking game I ever played. I'm sure no other game I'll ever play can come on par with this kind quality. Simple, minimalist design and controls makes you delve into this surreal space along with its long and deep ambient soundtrack. You totally get hypnotized. I'm sure I'm not the only one who fell for it.

Speaking of the soundtrack... I saw this, and I was wondering if there's gonna be a digital download somewhere when it gets released November 10. I want this soundtrack but I'm a little sore on shipping cost. If not, I'll just pre-order one since it's limited in stock...

I don't know if you guys plan on making any updates, but you sure blew up any expectations I had for this game during this +3 months of waiting. Congratulation for this fantastic  game and thank you.

See y'all around.

I have to say that is one of the nicest writeups I have read. Really appreciated and it is gratifying that the additions and improvements were seen as positive ones. :-)
At least it shows that we have taken player suggestions with regards to Dyson seriously. :-D

Many  thanks Vagrant!

Hi Vagrant...Milieu here! I will say for the record that I'm contemplating a digital download release of the OST in the coming months, but for now, the hard-copy is the only version available. I'm not quite sure what you mean about shipping cost being steep though, it's $2.50 for domestic US and $5 for international, which is nearly exactly what the USPS charges me to mail these at the first class rate. However if you do decide to go for it, you won't be disappointed. It really looks nice and like you said, limited in stock! So once they are gone, they're gone.

Thanks for the reply, both of you. I'm already looking foward for the custom map maker and other upgrades suggested here and there in both Steam and your forum.

As for the soundtrack, I made a miscalculation. As for being sore about it, it's more for the fact that the post clerk will probably think I just ordered my latest porn DVD. :P

Dang it... I don't remember the last time I've bought a jewel case music CD. Too long now... digital days swallows you in.
