Steam Download Graphics Problem (tokaino)

@tokaino here. I have mentioned this problem on twitter and will send you a DM.

I've attached four images to demonstrate the issue. Basically I can see no text, but it appears for a fleeting moment, almost as if it's written in white on white. I managed to catch this in one of the screenshots. It makes the game unplayable as I have no idea what's going on!

The images show:
1) opening menu
2) the options menu when clicked (as it briefly appeared)
3) options menu after that
4) after clicking Play the Main Game

I've just downloaded the Demo from Steam again to make sure it wasn't an old version. It's version 2.00, and then I downloaded the patch from you for v2.02. My specs allow me to play most games, Half Life 2 etc, which surely must be more demanding. It's the first time I've ever encountered a problem with any Steam demo.

Here are my specs:
Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop operating 32 bit Windows Vista Service Pack 2
(Windows Experience Index Base Score = 3.1)
Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2390 @1.86GHz 1.87GHz 2 Processor Cores
2.00GB RAM / 146GB HD
Graphics - Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
Total available graphics memory 358 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 0 MB
Dedicated system memory 128 MB
Shared system memory 230 MB
Display adapter driver version 7.14.10.1409
Primary monitor resolution 1280x800
DirectX version DirectX 9.0 or better

Hope you can help. If this is a demo problem, might be worth notifying Steam too.

The Steam demo is version 2.0?

When you install the patch does the demo report being 2.02?

I's unlikely that installing the patch will fix the Steam demo btw - unless you change the install path to point to where Steam installed the demo. And even then Steam might take issue with that and overwrite your patched version with the 2.0 version.

If it says 2.0 in the main menu then you're using 2.0. I'd suggest you download the demo in full from our site and try that.

The issue you're experiencing was an issue with versions prior to 2.02, and your main menu screenshot suggests to me that you're still running the 2.0 version of the demo.
