About the upcoming LUA customizability...
« on: October 21, 2009, 05:16:35 AM »
I'm extremely curious, will there be a way to expand, using LUA that is, the internal mechanisms such as creating new types of trees, seeds, flowers, etc?

The reason why I ask this is because I'm a fan of Garry's Mod, which is a half-life 2 mod that slaps in LUA and allows people to create thousands of flexible, easy-to-use user-made content. They've made all sorts of stuff, it's ridiculous how they do it.

I've played through the demo and I'm quite pleased about it. I'm waiting (for one more hour approximately) until it's release, and I'm dying to find out if we will be able to create new content with the upcoming LUA engine.

(Funny thing is, custom private world of warcraft servers use LUA to make custom instances, mobs, weapons, items, etc. too.)

So... Any takes on it? If so, where can we find a guide to help us create stuff for Eufloria specifically?

Alex has done a fair amount of documentation on our developer forum, so we will have much info for you guys soon. We just need to get the actual release sorted, and make sure we finally get some sleep. So, Lua guidance is coming to this forum very soon. :-)
