My screen resolution is 1024x768. The Dyson window used to be 800x600 on startup in the previous version. In 1.20, it too big to fit on the screen. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the judges at the competition all had wide screen monitors.
In case this is an actual bug, here is some info that may be useful:
Ubuntu 8.11 (kernel version: 2.6.27-11-generic)
gcc version 4.3.2
Nvidia GeForce FX 5600 256MB Ram (hey, it was a lot at the time)
Nvidia driver version 173.14.12
OpenGL version string: 2.1.2 NVIDIA 173.14.12
Screen Resolution: 1024x768

That's interesting; the game should resize to fit the display if it's smaller than the default resolution. I'll check this out. Cheers.

I play always on a laptop. But I use a TFT with the analog output of my laptop.
I wanted to try the fullscreen mode. Now my TFT says: AUS.SPEZIFIKATIONF
(I don't know the english eroor name! Could be OUT.SPECIFICATIONF)
I think the resolution or the VHz or Hz is wrong.
After I closed the game I can't get started the TFT again. Always an error.
I've tried many different monitor settings but I can't eliminate the error.
Now it's unuseable and I have to play and work on my little laptop screen :-\
Please help me! I don't want to format c: because of Dyson
I use Vista Premium 32bit
GeForce 9200M GS
TFT is LG L1953TR SF

Have you:
* uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers for the monitor in the device manager?
* reset the monitor to its factor settings in its own menu system?
I don't really know what else to say - the fullscreen mode in Dyson is dealt with by SDL, so it should be pretty harmless. I doubt you will have to reinstall your operating system for this, let's see if we can fix it first :)
-
I've tried to install new drivers for the monitor. I try it again in the next time.
Yes, I've reset the monitor but it didn't help.
Is there anywhere a config file, where I could fix the settings?
My Samsung-laptop supports 4 different Monitor settings:
- Laptop Mode
- CRT Mode
- Laptop & CRT Clone Screen
- Laptop & CRT Dual Screen
Now it only supports Laptop Mode and Clone Screen. Yes, in fullscreen mode too.
I want to search in the web and try to install a new driver this afternoon.
Sorry for my english ;)
-
And this is true when you are not even running Dyson?
-
Yes.
It began in CRT Mode. I started Dyson and chose Fullscreen Mode in the option menu.
Then the error msg appeared on the screen. By think back to the situation I am not sure if it happened by
activating Fullscreen Mode or deactivating it.
Because of the error I had to choose anothother screen-mode. I tried the Dual Screen.
This mode runs. I started Dyson and chose the Fullscreen Mode again.
Yes, your right! The screen changed to the error message.
In Clone Mode I got no error. I restarted the computer and tried all modes but the two modes always send the error.
Neither with nor without Dyson.

I want to let you know that I've solved the problem.
I installed the correct monitor driver. No change.
Then I installed the newest nvidia driver and ...yehaa!
Now I can choose between all modes again.
Thanks for your help and the interest.
ApoC
PS: Should I try the Fullscreen Mode again? ::)

Glad you got it sorted. Fullscreen should be OK, but it's up to you if you want to risk it or not.

I get the same problem on my Eeepc 904HA (1024x600). Full screen works fine, but when Dyson loads it starts in a massive resolution. I deal with it by changing the window size and it automatically re-sizes to fit my resolution. The only problem is that the bottom of the screen is behind the task bar, so I have to move the whole window up just enough. Slightly annoying, but not the end of the world.
-
I'll see if I can sort this.
-
new behaviuor of window in Dyson 1.2 annoyng me too.
i have 1024x768 display.
game started with big window, but menu buttons not fitted into it. it rearranged good after resizing only.
but second problem: after i resize window, it tryes to place itself to desktop center. but program not take into account taskbar height, and self-moving window so ugly.
please, return old behaviour, if it possible.
-
Sure thing. I'll move the window only if it goes offscreen.
-
Hi guys - great game by the way.
Just wanted to say that 1.2 exibits the same behaviour on my home TV screen (native 1360x768).
Windowed mode works fine, but selecting full screen results in an 'out of range' message on the monitor. Checked through the config files but couldnt find a default full screen res setting, so just wondered if there were any other ideas :)
thanks.
-
Sorry, it's not very configurable at the moment. You'll have to play with the window maximised for now... :(
-
Thats no prob :)
thanks for the response, ill buy it when its out :)
any info on multiplayer at all? :D
thx
-
There will be no multiplayer.

I'm sorry to bump such an old topic, but I'm having a similar issue.
I have the Steam version of Eufloria; I originally bought it on a computer with a massive 2560x1600 res monitor-- loved the LCD, a bit too big for my eyes though. I downgraded to a smaller monitor that's 1650x1080, then my desktop exploded and I had to replace it. I copied the files from the Steam directory and reinstalled it, but the problem is that fullscreen is still stuck in 2560x1600 no matter what, even on a new computer.
I've tried deleting all the Steam files and redownloading the game, and it still keeps fullscreen stuck at the massive res. I've searched my computer for all references to Eufloria and Dyson and deleted them, then redownloaded and reinstalled the game, and I still can't get fullscreen to scale to anything lower.
Is there any manual way or configuration file I can edit to stop it from doing this? It's really driving me crazy.
-
That's weird - for fullscreen mode Eufloria takes the current desktop resolution and uses that. The thing is that the resolution has to be on some stupid list of SDL resolutions - which I bet 1650x1080 isn't on. So now maybe I need to look at the current resolution and if it's not on there... choose the next smallest one that will fit on... I'll have a look, in the mean time will it be OK to play with a maximised window?
