Title: traveling from one plant to the other
Post by: sdh on August 08, 2009, 02:37:25 AM
hello,

I'm not sure about the game rules. Namely, why computer players can travel over my asteroids (and attack those which are not their neighbors), but I have to conquer enemy's asteroid in order to pass over it...?

anyway, cool game ;)

As far as I'm aware, the enemy seedlings have to abide by the same rules as you or I. Whenever someone tries to move to an asteroid some distance from the starting point they do "swing by" every asteroid along the way (and are fair game to any seedlings on the intervening asteroids) but one's own seedlings can do the same. The deciding factor is, I think, the energy value of the asteroid of origin.

hi, thanks for your reply
The reason why I think that rules for AI and human players are different is that, sometimes during the game enemy's seedlings appear in my central 'protected' asteroids, whereas I can reach distant enemy's asteroids only by conquering intermediate ones.

Which map is this happening on? You should be able to conquer asteroids more distant than adjacent provided the "home" asteroid has sufficient energy (or has been allowed sufficient range, in certain custom maps), and the enemy AI should only be capable of what you yourself can replicate.

The enemy cheats a bit at times by moving further than its actual sphere of influence. This will be eliminated in the next version. :-)

Another explanation is that the computer moves its attacking seedlings to a neighboring asteroid before the battle on the previous is completed. This neighboring asteroid would most likely be in a supposedly protected area.
