Timeshift - standard feature?

(1/2) > >>

Ever since finding the Debug mode, I've been playing Dyson at 2x (sometimes 3x) speed. Depending on how micro your micromanagement is (and how patient you are at any one given moment), it makes a lot more sense to play it at a faster speed. Which brings me to my question:

Shouldn't timeshifting be made into a standard, selectable option? It beats watching seedlings grow, and it's been used in other games before (like DEFCON) with great success.

Rudolf:
I am EXTREMELY reluctant to do so. The game isn't finished at all, and the additions we have planned wil mean there will be plenty to do while time passes. I totally understand though, you guys see the game as it is now, which has a number of issues. I see the game as how it will be, and I know mostly which holes to plug and how to plug it. ;-) Yo0ur feedback is massively useful and important in this regard. It is the best way to make the game better because we read it all an recognise trends and can check them against the things that we have planned aleady. (Or give us new or beter ideas, we aren't too proud to adopt forum originated solutions) :-D

wogan:
So if you've already got a roadmap, care to share with us? We'd produce far better ideas if we knew where you were planning on going in the first place :)

Rudolf:
We are sharing some things already and will continue to do so. However the more confident we are that our plans are final the more we will share, but for now we still have a number of things we want to play with and try out ourselves :-)

it would make sense to allow the player the control, as long as it is a simply slider and thats all.  it would be good to stop time too, to redirect you units etc.  when one gets more than 10 planets one can start expanding exponentially, as in start conquering several planets at a time but to coordinate it all one must stop and plan it all out.
