In-game Map Editor
« on: July 12, 2011, 05:41:29 AM »
What you can do with the editor:

• Add and remove asteroids
• Move asteroids around
• Change asteroids stats with a very simple system
• Change asteroids tree cap
• Change asteroids owner
• Change asteroids send distance
• Change asteroids radius
• Save and get a playable map!

Progress:

Done = Green
Not Done = Red

Main features:

• Ability to change stats
• Ability to change asteroid radius
• Ability to change asteroid send distance
• Ability to add/remove asteroids
• Ability to move asteroids

• Ability to change asteroid owner
• Ability to change tree cap
• Ability to save

Small stuff:

• No teleporting asteroids when clicking to move them
• Grids for aligning asteroid co-ords

• Icons for buttons
• Icon magnifying

If anyone who has made an in-game map editor doesn't want me to continue, I'll stop immediatly. If you have not submitted the in-game editor to the forum and tell me though, I won't!
I also hope everyone who has seen another in-game editor is fine with me making this :)

If you mean me, I'm fine with you making whatever.  :>  RoidForge is just an asteroid field designer, I've kind of decided that is all it will ever be.  A graphical level generator is a logical next step of course, but I'm not going to be the one to make that step.  So, by all means, dig in.. :>

Annikk, I wonder... Do you have any on-going project now? Cause I need help with Icons and you seem to handle them pretty ok :D

I used a combination of lines and sprites to make mine.

My current project in theory is the 3D engine.  In practice it's work stuff.  :/

Is there anything I can help with that doesn't involve coding the icons themselves?

If you need advice about what sort of icon you can make to represent a particular function, I can probably help with stuff like that.. :>

Icons, my least beloved thing to do in this editor, is soon to come :/

After that I'll do some final polishing and release it. Yet I need a name, anyone want to give me one? It's a full editor with two lacks, you're not able to add seedlings, nor trees... But they are printed as comments when the map is saved. This editor is enabling you to change litterally everything about the asteroids(that is useful to change at start!) :)

So, any names? :D

Draw a simple tree with lines; a tall vertical line for the trunk, and a bunch of horizontal lines - narrow at the top, wider at the bottom, to represent branches.

and another one is owner of the asteroid D:

Hmm, perhaps a circle made out of half a dozen Sprite ID 1's, each a different colour (to represent the different player colours).
