Crash on load - ATi OpenGL issue?
« on: January 04, 2010, 07:43:29 AM »
Hi,

I can't get the game to run (either through Steam or stand-alone). It crashes on load every time.  If I debug it appears that the error is being thrown in atioglxx.dll, trying to access an invalid memory location.

I'm running the latest release of the ATi drivers and Catalyst software.

Interestingly if I replace the atioglxx.dll with an older one (from Catalyst 8.12) the game will load, but doesn't render correctly and runs incredibly slow.

System:
Intel QX6850 3.0Ghz
Dual ATi HD 2900-XT (tried running in CrossFireX mode and single card mode)
4GB DDR2 RAM
Asus Blitz Formula motherboard w/ P35 chipset
Windows Vista (patched to latest)

Game:
Tried v.2.0 and v.2.02 same problem with both.

It's a shame because I really was looking forward to trying this game! I've got a new motherboard/gpu/ram coming this week which may fix the issue if it's a card/driver specific problem, otherwise I'll still be using the same ATi drivers and suffering the same problem.

Thanks,

Robin

Update

I've now got the new PC stuff - changed graphics card(s) to a single Saphire ATi 5870 - and Euflorium runs! I have my suspicions it was something to do with CrossFire... anyway, it works now so I'm happy!
