Hey all, I bought Dyson (I know, I know) on Steam a couple days ago and I can't get it to work. It goes through all the loading and generating assets. Then it seems like its ridiculously slow. Like 10 seconds between frames. The background eventually pops up, then the menu shows up fuzzy, then gets less fuzzy, only there's 10 seconds or so between the frames. But there is no error. Only when I try to close it does it say, program is not responding blah blah. I just updated my video drivers last week and I installed the newest version of .net yesterday. I'm not really sure what else to try!
I really played the hell out of the demo and I wanted to support you guys. Any thoughts?
Oh specs:
Windows 7 64bit
nVidia 8800 GTS
AMD 64 X2 4200+
2GB ram
big ole HD

I have noticed that a lot of people who have crashes have 64-bit win 7... that may be the problem, or it may be just coincedence, I don't know. Post more system specs?
'System info', or similar in one if the steam menus gives you a copy-pasteable list of information about (oddly enough) you system. Various cards, OS, and more that I can't remember right now.

That's odd - the game should work fine on 64-bit and NVidia's GL drivers should be fine... wonder what's going on there. Are other GL games (Osmos for instance has a GL mode) similarly slow? I notice you have a simple GL Space Invaders game installed - how does that run?
-
Yeah, I saw your comment on this on the Steam forums awhile ago about OpenGL. I downloaded and played that space invaders one without an issue, no hiccups or anything.
I also reinstalled the game to make sure the files weren't corrupt and I started it from its native folder instead of from Steam. Then I tried to run it as an administrator in compatibility mode just for the heck of it. Same issues! O.o
-
Hey! Got it working! Just restarted the compy and it was good to go O.o I swear I tried it but all's well that ends well! Thanks for all the hard work guys, looks and sounds beautiful!
-
*sees huge list of expensive programs* heh show off lol
*sees Starcraft 2* GOD DANGIT I NEED TO GET THAT STILL
CS4 must have cost a bundle huh?
-
I got as far as making a Battle.net account yesterday and bottled out...
-
I honestly forgot I installed Adobe until I ran this thing O.o Needed Photoshop for like 10 min and acquired it from some friends lol.
Most of the games on the list I got cheap on Steam. They gots some crazy deals sometimes!
And Starcraft is actually a lot more fun than I expected. Not that it will replace my soon to be rejuvenated Dyson addiction ;) I just was never too good at the original SC back in the day. But I could see myself having more fun with this one. I just really hope they keep smoothing out the Battle.net wrinkles!
Peace!
