I have noticed that enemy laser mines can travel to 'roids that are out of reach for seedlings. More precisely, it seems to me that laser mines use the travel radius of the target 'roid instead of the 'roid they are orbiting to find out where they can move. I assume this is not intended?
-
interesting observation. i havent notced this exact issue myself. but then, ive always just been playing the game so i dont notice these subtle things so often.
anyone else come across this?
-
It is more obvious with some of the custom levels (or maybe I have just been playing those more lately ;D) For example in "binary black" there is a small 'roid to the top and right of the starting 'roid with a very large range. Here the behaviour is very clear.
-
ok, here is a screenshot of "the centre cannot hold" showing the behaviour. The blue mine is moving from the selected 'roid to the big grey 'roid
-
Having trouble reproducing this on level 25 - going to try binary black
-
Can't get it to happen on Binary Black either - if you can get me some definitive reproduction steps I'll have another look.
-
Could be a 2.0.4 vs. 2.0.5 issue?
-
For reference, I have version 2.04 (steam), on windows vista 32bit. Do you need any other data to check?
I don't believe I do anything special except playing the game ??? For what it's worth, I'm the red player in the screenshot

Ah - have you ever successfully sent your own mines to other asteroids in the manner shown? It's always someone else's mines?
-
Sometimes in the past I had the nebulous impression that the enemy AI was cheating. Mh…
-
Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I've seen this erroneous behaviour as well. However, the UI through which the player interacts with the game prevents them from sending mines further than their own asteroid's send distance. It seems to only affect AI. Not sure if scripted move commands also produce this behaviour.
-
Indeed. Sorry if it was unclear before: it is only the ai which can send mines in this way. My mines always have the same reach as my seedlings as indicated by the 'roids travel radius.
-
I've seen this behaviour as well in some of my maps when i've been tweaking them. The AI can send laser mines to "any" asteroid, irrespective of the SendDistance.
-
Cool, I will look into it
-
Fixed this.

Cool, looking forward the new release!
