I don't think anything can avoid a laser that's been fired. But the faster they are, they may be less likely to be in range of an enemy...
And bombs, yes, if they're faster than the bombs.
But really, this doesn't matter that much, they end up dying anyway lol
The main thing fast guys are good for is avoiding getting killed when flying past enemy asteroids.
