Aino:
Hmmm, I got a little idea for the custom games menu, a new layout... the old one is so simple and not exactly what suits me anymore(since I'm testing all my levels and stuff, it's alot of levels...)
I'm thinking more of an open menu:
You'll have a new Custom Map Menu, it got a Map Selection section to the left on the screen:
*All spoilers have increased text size to make it easier to read the compacted text :)
(click to show/hide)It'll stretch from top to bottom of the screen, laying on the left side and stretching over 20%(of the screen lenght) to the right. It's transparent gray, smoth sides and contains another box, the box has Folder names in it and another folder, called "Leftover Maps" which obviously contains the maps not included in any folder(which is the ones directly putted into the Maps folder). Each folder has a plus sign when unopened, when opened it turns into a minus sign. To open the folders you must click at their signs or names, then the content of the folder will show up without removing the rest of the map, like in the current one where the other maps just disappears until you press "...". The Map Selection Section also have a slider, which works as the current one, now with more purpose I hope :)
On the right side there are a Map Information section, it fills the rest of the screen in the same way as the Map Selection Section.
(click to show/hide)Here you'll see two boxes, one is at the absolute right side, a small/medium sized squared box. This box will show a small image of the map, at a chose location by the editor, so the editor can do "SetVisualizationCameraPos(x,y)" and "SetVisualizationCameraZoom(zoom)" which will be where is shows, it will show what the player can see at that point(discovered asteroids, seedlings and trees(those may not stay at the same position though :))). Now you'll also get a ne variable, the ShowMap, which is either true, false or nil... false and nil is false, which means that the game won't visualize the selected part of the map. True is the opposite...
Now the other box, which is barely visible is the Map Info itself, it has two/three* part of itself, which can be shown by pressing the "name" of the box(which is the name of the three parts!)
The name of the parts:
- General Information
- Advanced Information
- More Advanced Information
General Information show things as Name of the map, Difficulty(set by editor of the map, with a Var called Difficulty, it is a string and can be set to "easy", "normal" and "hard"), Size(automatically calculated by the game!), gameplay lenght(once again, a var set by the editor, its a string which can be set to whatever the editor may wish :)) adn lastly the name of the editor.
Advanced Information shows two things(as I can come up with):
AI(a string var again, edited by the editor. if not edited, it is automatically asigned as Normal. this does not affect any AI behaviour or set the AI on automatically! it is only a text, which can even be lied about :o)
Notes(a string var yet again, it gives extra information from the editor, as if he/she would post on the forums!
More Advanced Information shows things like extra RAM useage and possible CPU use, maybe it'll show if the map is reccomended for your system? So if you don't know if your computer can handle the use of AI's ans gravity or parralax, now you may know :)
Sorry, but you might need to use your imagination for now, I can't visualize it for you yet :/
Gevaarlijk:
How about giving an asteroid the ability to autosend any (new) seeds to another asteroid? This would allow for much larger and more complex maps, without having to spend all the time sweeping up all the seeds, rather than focussing on your frontline. This way even a few hundred or even a thousand asteroids could still be manageable!

Something like that is coming :-)

Make the keyboard controls more obvious from within the game - or at least the manual easier to find (Installing through Steam, I generally don't bother looking in the game folder for stuff.) It took me about 2 weeks to figure out I could use pgup/pgdn to zoom, which is useful on my laptop since there's a lack of scroll wheel on my trackpad.. and playing the game at default zoom level makes things really difficult when your empire grows.
